When Motion Sickness set out to create a studio as bold and innovative as their
ideas, MYX brought the expertise to make it a reality. In collaboration with the visionary
design team at Wonder Group, we transformed the Grey Lynn space into an
environment where creativity thrives. This project wasn’t just about
construction—it was about craftsmanship, precision, and delivering solutions that
turned ambitious design into a fully realized space.
Every detail mattered in bringing this studio to life, and with that came unique
challenges. One complex tasks was installing the aluminum boardroom table. More
than just a statement piece, it required technical expertise to ensure it was safely
earthed back to the mains—eliminating any risk of ‘shocking’ board meetings.
Timing was also a critical factor. The fit-out had to progress while base build works
were still underway, requiring seamless coordination to ensure the client’s move-in
date remained on track. Early procurement became essential, particularly for
custom elements like the carpets sourced from Italy.
The result is a seamless blend of old and new—a space that pays homage to the
70s advertising world while embracing the needs of a modern, collaborative workspace.
MYX’s expertise in craftsmanship and problem-solving not only helped bring
the vision to life but also earned industry recognition, with the project winning the Red
Design Award for Craftsmanship.
